Types of Pennsylvania Pa Hunting License
Pennsylvania Resident
A resident is someone who has been living in Pennsylvania for at most 30 days.
Pennsylvania residents are required to have a resident hunting permit. Additional permits might be required.
Pennsylvania residents 18 and older may be eligible for the Mentored Adult Hunting Program. For more information, visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission website.
Non-Resident
Non-resident hunters must possess a Pa Hunting License. Additional permits might be required.
Mentored Adult Hunting Program is open to non-residents 18 years old and older who are first-time hunter. For more information, visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission website.
Youth Hunting License
Non-residents and Pennsylvania residents between the ages 12-16 may purchase a junior hunting licence. Hunters between the ages of 12 and 13 years old must be accompanied at all times by an adult licensed to hunt. Hunters aged 14 and 15 must be accompanied at all times by an adult licensed 18 years or older.
Non-residents and Pennsylvania residents under 12 years old can apply for the Mentored Youth Permit. Mentored youth must be accompanied and licensed by an older mentor, 21 years old or more. For more information, visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission website.
Senior Hunting License
Pennsylvania residents 65 years and older can purchase the Resident Senior Pa Hunting License for a reduced price or the Resident senior hunting lifetime license for a one time fee. To receive harvest tags valid for the next year, the lifetime license must be renewed every year. The renewal license is not required.
Disability License
Hunting enthusiasts with physical disabilities might be eligible to apply for disability permits. A current pa hunting license is required. For more information, visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission website.
Veterans and Military Licenses
While on leave, active-duty military personnel who are Pennsylvania citizens may be eligible to purchase a reduced-fee hunting license.
Veterans who are disabled as a result of service may be eligible to receive a free Resident Disabled Vet (DV) Pa Hunting License or a reduced-fee Resident Retired Veteran (DV), hunting license.

Migratory Waterfowl Needs
For hunting migratory waterfowl, hunters must have the Federal Duck Stamp. All hunters 12 years old and older must buy the Pennsylvania Migratory Game Bird License. This is proof that you have been enrolled in the Harvest Information Program (HIP).

Pa Hunting License will be available for the 2021-22 season at all outlets in the county, as well as the Treasurer’s Office, starting Monday, June 14. Pa Hunting License for the new season are now available at 7 cents per piece.
Monday, July 12, is the first day the Treasurer’s Office will accept applications for antlerless deer licenses by mail from Pennsylvania residents. Non-residents can apply starting Monday, July 19. The first round of “bonus tags”, will be available beginning Monday, August 2. All applications received after the end of each application period are rejected and returned.
Retired lifetime license holders are reminded that they must renew their lifetime license at no extra cost in order to receive their 2021 application for antlerless deer.
All applications for antlerless deer licenses must be submitted in the pink envelope required by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The inner return envelope should have a postage stamp attached. Only First Class US Mail will be accepted. Walk-in applicants are not accepted. Residents can apply for antlerless licenses at $6.97 and nonresidents at $26.97. Two Wildlife Management Units (WMUs), located in Centre County, are 2G (northern of I-80) or 4D (southwest of I-80). WMU 2G is allocated 23,000 licenses and WMU 4D 55,000.
For the 2021-22 hunting seasons, there have been several changes. The statewide firearms season will include concurrent hunting for antlerless and antlered deer. Hunters statewide can now carry up to six unfilled antlerless licenses at once (subject to WMU allocation limits and application restrictions). Digital licenses can also be carried afield in lieu of certain paper licenses. The 2021-22 Hunting & Trapping Digest contains a complete listing of all the changes that took effect in 2018.
